On the first day of INTERGEO 2019, we have announced the expansion of the Topcon vertical construction portfolio with new products for scan, verification and layout. Find out more about each of the new products unveiled today. 

It’s no secret that the construction sector is experiencing a severe skills shortage across Europe. Digitalisation, the transition towards a greener economy and demographic changes have all increased this gap. According to the Skills for Jobs Database by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), at least 80 million workers in Europe are mismatched in terms of qualifications.[1] With the UK’s exit from the European Union set for the 31^st October, existing issues are amplified by the uncertainty of labour flow across Europe. It has therefore never been more pressing to find a practical solution.  

The fourth industrial revolution, the National BIM roadmap and the adoption of digital technologies were among the topics discussed at the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Digital Construction Summit at Croke Park, Dublin, recently.  

The annual event was even more exciting for Topcon Positioning Ireland this year though, as we exclusively launched our new vertical construction device to the Irish market. The GTL-1000 is already transforming entire workflows on site by reducing a typical scan and analysis task down to just a few hours.

As Ireland enjoyed one of the hottest summers for 40 years, the heat had an unexpected benefit for agronomist, Ronan Brannigan at the six golf courses he manages around Dublin, Meath and Louth.
