Meet the Topcon Team: Simon Pole

Are you ready to meet another member of our team?

In the latest instalment of our ‘Meet the Team’ series, we’re introducing you to Topcon’s machine control installation and service engineer, Simon Pole. Over the years, Simon has become an expert in machine control, GPS, surveying and geomatics to drive the adoption of digital technology across the industry. Read more about his experience below.

Hi Simon, please could you tell us how you started your career and how it led to you joining Topcon?

I worked as a material handling service engineer before joining Topcon 15 years ago, and that gave me a great understanding of the machines and technology used across the construction industry. I was keen to move to Topcon to have a more technology-focused role.

What’s your favourite thing about working for Topcon?

I love working for a company that is always at the forefront of new technology – it means that we’re always learning about the next best thing and being able to give our customers the best solutions.

We’ve got such a great team too, and even though we all have different specialisms and expertise, we support each other to not only deliver the best experience for our customers but to help us build our own knowledge of our suite of technologies across different areas.

How do you go above and beyond for customers?

I think it’s really important to act as a troubleshooter for our customers – if they do encounter an issue, we always react quickly enough to fix it and make sure they feel supported.

If I can’t solve a problem myself, I call on the support of my colleagues to make sure we can find the right solution for that particular customer as soon as possible.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

I have a real need for speed! As well as loving technology, I really enjoy all things motorsports. I have a motorbike and I race model cars, and I also love watching motorsports and Formula 1. I can’t go as fast these days but it’s still super fun!
