Pocket 3D: Surface display options

There are some unique options that can be enabled or disabled for both surfaces and alignments.

To change these settings, go to the Options menu for each type of data.

  • Surfaces: Data > Surfaces > Options
  • Alignments: Data > Alignments > Options

Surface Options

There are three Display settings for surfaces:

  • Show triangles: Shows the 3D mesh data of the surface.  This is represented by a series of triangles connected to form a 3D mesh or surface.
  • Show boundaries: Shows the limits of the surface file
  • Show contours: Pocket3D will generate contours for the active surface at the interval specified in the text box below it.

In addition, the color of these features can be changed to your preference by hitting the Color... buttons next to each setting.

*NOTE* On large or complex surfaces, using a very small contour interval (i.e. 0.01') can cause the program to become unstable.  Even on a small jobsite, it is recommended to not go below an interval of 0.10'.

Alignment Options

For alignments, several options exist:

  • Feature lines: Shows features created via templates (i.e. edge of pavement, shoulder, curb, etc.).
  • Center line: Shows the centerline of the active alignment
  • Horz. transitions: Gives station data where changes occur on the horizontal centerline
  • Vert. transitions: Gives station data where changes occur on the profile
  • Station lines: Lines that run perpendicular to the centerline at a set interval
  • Station pts: Points that are placed at the intersection of the station lines and the centerline.  This interval can be defined by the user.

In addition, the color of these features can be changed to your preference by hitting the Color... buttons next to each setting.
