MAGNET Office: Manual road entry (part 3 of 4) - Cross section templates

Cross section template entry

With both the horizontal and vertical geometry entered, now do the following:

  1. Click the Cross Section tab.
  2. Right-click in the spreadsheet.
  3. Configure the information you need to enter and the sequence you want to enter it in.

The important step here is you MUST enter the elevation for the vertical alignment that has been entered in the profile tab. Also enter the required station and, if applicable, a code, such as CL.

Furthermore, data to be entered here must relate to the centerline, that is, the horizontal and vertical profile entered.

If the template on the left is CL - EP - TC - BS, the information is always back to the centerline slope and offset. It is NOT element to element. On the left side, the offset will always be a negative.

Enter the data as per your design site plan, again emphasizing it should always relate to the centerline.

As the data is entered, the graphics will automatically populate on the right-hand side, thus replacing the view of the horizontal alignment.

Once entered correctly, the next stage is to build a road and surface from the manually entered data.
