MAGNET Collage: Importing GTL-1000 scans

Important: To process GTL-1000 data, you must use Magnet Collage 2.3.3 or newer.

After collecting lidar data on the GTL-1000, take the SD card out of the SD card slot, and insert it into your computer.

If your computer does not have an SD card port, use an SD card reader. The image below is an example of what the files from the GTL-1000 look like. Copy these files on to a designated folder in your PC.

Create a new workspace by going to File > New Workspace.

Navigate to File > Save Workspace As to save your workspace in the desired location.

Right-click on the workspace name, and select Add Existing Scan Project.

Click Choose to locate the file path of the raw data from the GTL-1000.

Select the file gtl1000.prj, and click Open.

Specify your coordinate system as user-defined or geodetic:

  • If using a local coordinate system such as 5000,1000,100, select the User-defined option.
  • If using a geodetic coordinate system, select the Geodetic option.

Click the Choose button. Select the desired coordinate system, datum, and geoid (if necessary).

During a survey with the GTL-1000, the user can set control for their occupations via occupy/backsight and resection measurements. MAGNET Collage recognizes these measurements and uses the control from the MAGNET Field job to register the scans automatically.

To start processing the scans, right-click on the scan project name, and select Process Scans and Images.

Right-click on the scan project name, and select Jump To in order to zoom into the scan. Once the scans have been processed, they should appear in the view.
