Topnet Live: Skybridge Pro network rover with PPP via NTRIP MAGNET Field configuration

This article explains how to use MAGNET Field to configure a Topnet Live Skybridge Pro network rover with PPP via NTRIP.

Equipment that you will need:

  • A receiver capable of PPP, for example:
    • Topcon: HiPer-HR, HiPer-VR, Net G-5, or MR-2
    • Sokkia: GNR5 or GRX3.
  • OAF for NTRIP Starpoint Pro requires SPPP and CRYP enabled
  • GNSS firmware 5.4 or higher.
  • Subscription to Starpoint Pro
  • Subscription to Real Point
  • MAGNET Field v7.1 or higher

Open MAGNET Field.

Press Configure.

Press Survey.

In GNSS Configuration, press Select from Library.

Press Add to create a new configuration.

Enter a name for the configuration. It is suggested to use the receiver type and survey type in the name, for example, HR PPP NTRIP.

Select Network RTK as the Type.

Press Next.

Select the Manufacturer of the receiver. Press Next.

On the Rover Receiver screen, select the Receiver Model.

Press the blue M button. Select Receiver Settings.

On the Receiver Settings screen, click the Enable Skybridge box.

Select Network for the corrector service.

Press the green check mark.

Press Next on the Rover Receiver screen.

On the Rover Radio screen, select your connection to the network, either:

  • Receiver with Internal Cellular for Type and Auto for the Model
  • Controller with Internal Cellular for Type and Existing Network Connection for Model

Press Next.

Since Starpoint/Skybridge requires a separate Topnet Live username and password, press Add, and create a separate internet address for it.

Press Add.

Enter a name for this connection.

Enter the IP address and port from your Starpoint/Starpoint Pro subscription email.

Enter your login from your Starpoint/Starpoint Pro subscription email.

Enter your password from your Starpoint/Starpoint Pro subscription email.

Press the green check mark.

Press Next.

On the Position in GGA screen, check the Automatic Rover Pos box. Press Next.

On the TILT Settings screen, configure as you wish. Press Next.

On the Topo Survey screen, select Fixed, PPPF and PPPN for both the Precise and Quick Solution.

Press Next.

On the Auto Topo Survey screen, select Fixed, PPPF and PPPN for the Solution type.

Configure Method and Interval as you wish. Press Next.

On the Stake Settings screen, configure the options as you wish, then press Next.

On the Stake Settings screen, select Fixed, PPPF and PPPN for both the Precise and Quick Solution.

Press Next.

On the Grade Stake Marking screen, configure the settings as you desire. Press Next.

On the Staked Point Icon screen, configure as you wish, then press Next.

On the Point Naming screen, set up the point naming schema to your preferences, then press Next.

On the Tracking screen, select all constellations, and check Use all signals.

Press Next.

On the Advanced screen, check Multipath Reduction.

Press the blue M button.

Set the PDOP Mask to 3.5.

Press the green check mark.

Back on the Advanced screen, press Next.

On the Miscellaneous screen, configure the settings to your liking. Press the green check mark.

On the Configuration Library screen, press the green check mark.

On the Job Configuration screen, press the green check mark.

In the Main menu, press Configure.

In the Configure menu, press Coord Sys.

On the Coordinate System screen, select a predefined Projection.

Select a predefined Datum.

Select a predefined Geoid Model.

Press the green check mark.

Connect to the receiver.

Connect to the network using either the StarPoint Pro +RTK or StarPoint Pro +NRTK mount point.

A message will arrive that the base data was updated from corrections. Press Close.

Press Home.

Select and press Survey.

Select and press Topo.

The Topo screen will display and show a fixed solution with good residuals.

Press the blue M button.

Select Status.

Select the System tab, and scroll to the bottom.

Notice that the Skybridge Status reads Rover Not Ready.

After 25-30 minutes, the Skybridge Status will change to Ready.

Press the back button.

Disconnect the mount point by pressing the blue M button and selecting Setup, and then press Disconnect MP to simulate the loss of network connection.

After a few seconds, the RTK solution will change to PPPN, and you can continue with your survey for up to 8 minutes.
