Backing up and restoring Calibrations

Backing up geometry

From a PC

Once the geometry calibration process is completed and the JSON file is saved on the MC-X1, it is also saved on the PC that performed the calibration. The directory it is saved in is as follows:

  • C:\Users\nameofuser\Documents\Topcon\AmExcavatorGeometryCalibration

This directory will contain every geometry calibration performed by a specific PC.

It is suggested to immediately rename these files with a naming structure that will make it easy to identify the customer and machine each calibration belongs to.

From an MC-X1

An existing calibration can be saved off of an MC-X1.

In MCXConfig, go to Sensors > Deployment > Backup.

Select the directory to save the JSON file to. Be sure to keep the .JSON extension if renaming it. Click Save.

Restoring a JSON file

To restore a JSON file, in MCXConfig, go to Sensors > Deployment > Choose File.

Browse for the JSON file. Click Restore.

When to restore a JSON file

The JSON file contains the geometry calibration for the excavators using an MC-X1 and TS-i4s.

In the event of an MC-X1 failure, the geometry calibration can be restored instead of having to perform the calibration again.

Backing up hydraulics

In MCXConfig, go to Sensors > Configuration > BackupConfig.

Select the directory to save the tar.gz file to. Be sure to keep the extension as tar.gz.

Restoring a hydraulic calibration

To restore a hydraulic calibration in MCXConfig, go to Sensors > Configuration > Choose File.

Browse for the tar.gz file. Click RestoreConfig.

When to restore hydraulics

If the MC-X1 ever needs to be replaced, the configuration can be manually restored to prevent having to go through the hydraulic calibration process again.
