Pocket 3D: Import/Export - Projects

Importing Projects

Users can easily import an entire project into a data collector using Pocket3D.  This will contain all linework, localization, surfaces and points for that project.

To import a project, go to Data > Projects and select the file name to access the Project file manager.

*NOTE* Going to Data > Project > Import/Export will not import the full Topcon TP3 project file, but rather import individual pieces of the file into the current project that is open.

In the Project File manager, hit the Copy... button.

The From dropdown box is where the file is being copied from.  For importing projects from a USB drive, this will need to be set to D:/ or USBHardDisk, depending on the version of Pocket3D you are using.

The To dropdown box is the destination of the file being copied.  For importing projects, this will need to be set to Internal Memory or HardDisk, depending on the version of Pocket3D you are running.

Now, the file should appear in the list.  Select it and hit the OK button.

*NOTE* Pocket3D can only see the root directory of a USB drive.  Project files saved inside folders on a USB drive will not be visible to the program.

If the project is successfully copied, the screen to the right should appear, along with an audible tone.

The USB drive can now be removed from the data collector.

Exporting Projects

Entire project files can be exported to a USB drive for easy copying into other data collectors or into Topcon 3D-MC machine control systems.

To copy a project, go to Data > Project and select the file name to access the Project file manager.

*NOTE* The Import/Export function will not copy entire projects, just individual pieces of a project.

In the Project file manager, hit the Copy... button.

In the copy screen, you will need to select the file you wish to copy.  In this instance, I will copy the Training Site - LMS 2017 file and it has been selected in blue.

The From dropdown box is where the file is being copied from.  For exporting projects, this will need to be set to Internal Memory or HardDisk, depending on the version of Pocket3D you are using.
