Pocket 3D: Import/Export - Linework from LN3 file

  • The LN3 format is Topcon's proprietary file format for transferring linework between Topcon construction software.
  • To import an LN3 file, go to Data > Linework > Import/Export > From LN3...
  • Use the triple dot box in the upper right to define where the LN3 is saved.  If the file is on a USB drive, you will need to look in either the D:/ drive or USBHardDisk.
  • By default, linework imported into Pocket3D will inherit the layers they were saved with.  For instance, if centerline linework that was drawn on a CL layer is imported, Pocket3D will create a CL layer in the project if it does not already exist and import the centerline linework into it.
  • If successful, a message will be displayed stating how many lines were imported into the project.
  • If you want to bring all linework in the file into a single layer, regardless of what layer it was originally drawn in, check the box next to 'Add all lines to spec. layer'.
  • This will enable a dropdown box where you can select what layer the linework is imported into.
  • Hit the OK button to import the linework.
  • If successful, a message will be displayed stating how many lines were imported into the project.

*NOTE* Importing linework into a project will merge the new linework with any existing linework.  If revised linework is being imported, the user should delete the layers being imported BEFORE importing the new linework to prevent overlapping or duplicate linework.
