Always on point: layout better and faster with Topcon’s new GT Series

Always on point: layout better and faster with Topcon’s new GT series

It’s never been more important to build efficiently and accurately. As a result, the demand for technology that improves quality and consistency to eliminate costly mistakes is on the rise. Now, more than ever, it’s imperative that total stations provide the highest levels of accuracy possible, while accelerating productivity in the field.

We’ve been working behind the scenes to make sure our next generation of positioning equipment does just that. And now, as part of Intergeo 2020, we’re able to reveal our latest innovation. Our new flagship GT Series of ultrasonic robotic total stations, including the newly launched GT-1200 and GT-600, are truly comprehensive solutions designed for easy-to-use digital processes.

Next generation of total stations

The GT-1200 and GT-600 total stations are available in multiple accuracy levels and form part of a full workflow solution, including a new FC-6000 field computer, a full-version update to Topcon field and office software, and HiPer Series GNSS receivers. Built for job site mobility, the GT series enables a streamlined workflow for the most demanding survey and construction applications. To accelerate productivity further, the GT-1200 and GT-600 have also been designed with up to 180° per second turning speed.

While the equipment is immensely powerful, we’ve designed it so it’s lightweight enough to easily manage on site. In fact, the total stations are 30% smaller and lighter than any other Topcon series robotic instrument.

Data at your fingertips

We understand the importance of having accurate, real-time data at your fingertips whether you’re in the office or out in the field, which is why we’ve designed the system to work in sync for improved performance and better data handling with built-in, field-to-office connectivity. Using MAGNET software, the solution improves field-based quality reporting and data handling for larger files, graphical processing, and 3D models. All Industry standard formats are supported.

The speed, tracking and accuracy of the GT Series, combined with the intuitive software system, creates a flexible solution to support surveyors and contractors performing surveys, layout or machine guidance projects, ultimately helping them to increase precision and reduce errors and reworking.

Making layout quicker and easier

To make layout easier and guidance more fluid, the new total stations perform at a faster 10 Hz positioning update rate. For demanding Machine Guidance applications, a super-fast 20Hz update rate is available. What’s more, combining the GT Series with the new field computer and software enhancements improves tracking and means more layout and survey points can be collected in less time.

Maintaining prism-lock and tracking moving targets can be difficult, especially on challenging jobsites, but the advanced UltraTrac prism tracking in the GT Series combines optical sensing with a new ultrasonic motor control algorithm. This means the GT will lock onto the prism better than ever before to provide the very best results on projects, from smoother machine guidance to more accurate positioning when surveying.
