Topnet Live: Starpoint Pro PPP via L band configuration for MAGNET Field

Topnet Live: Starpoint Pro PPP via L band configuration for MAGNET Field

Equipment that you will need:

  • A receiver capable of receiving L band, for example:
    • Topcon: HiPer-HR, HiPer-VR, NET-G5, or MR-2
    • Sokkia: GNR5 or GRX3
  • OAF for L band Starpoint Pro requires VPPP enabled
  • GNSS firmware 5.4 or higher
  • Subscription to Starpoint Pro
  • MAGNET Field v7.1 or higher

Open MAGNET Field.

Press Configure.

Press Survey.

In GNSS Configuration, press Select from Library.

Press Add to create a new configuration.

Enter a Name for the configuration. It is suggested to use the receiver type and survey type in the name, for example, HR PPP.

Select Autonomous/SBAS from the Type drop-down list.

Press Next.

Select the Manufacturer of the receiver. Press Next.

On the Rover Receiver screen, select the Receiver Model.

Press the blue M button. Select Receiver Settings.

On the Receiver Settings screen, check the Enable Starpoint box.

Select Lband for the corrector service.

For L band Starpoint, click on the Advanced button. Specify the L band satellite to connect, or select Auto.

Press the green check mark.

On the Rover Receiver screen, press Next.

On the SBAS Setup screen, select Any Available.

In the Iono Corr drop-down list, select Apply if avail.

Press Next.

On the TILT Settings screen, configure as you wish. Press Next.

On the Topo Survey screen, select PPP-F and PPP-N for both the Precise and Quick Solution.

Press Next.

On the Auto Topo Survey screen, select PPP-F and PPP-N for the Solution type.

Configure Method and Interval as you wish. Press Next.

On the Stake Settings screen, configure the options as you wish, then press Next.

On the Stake Settings screen, select PPP-F and PPP-N for both the Precise and Quick Solution.

Press Next.

On the Grade Stake Marking screen, configure the settings as you desire. Press Next.

On the Staked Point Icon screen, configure as you wish, then press Next.

On the Point Naming screen, set up the point naming schema to your preferences, then press Next.

On the Tracking screen, select all constellations and signals.

On the Advanced screen, check the Multipath Reduction box, then press Next.

On the Miscellaneous screen, configure the settings to your liking, then press the green check mark.

On the Job Configuration screen, press the green check mark.

On the Main menu, press Configure.

On the Configure menu, press Coord Sys.

On the Coordinate System screen, select a predefined Projection.

Select a predefined Datum and Geoid Model.

Press the green check mark.

You are now ready to begin a standalone PPP survey.

When you connect to the receiver with L band Starpoint Pro, MAGNET Field will connect to the L band satellite and begin to stream PPP corrections.

Your initial solution will be CPPP in MAGNET Field.

You will then have a PPPN (PPP Normal) solution as the RMS comes down. Convergence time is  about 10-30 minutes.

With L band PPP, you will then progress to a PPPF (PPP Fine) solution when the RMS comes down further.
