TopNET-V: Installation and configuration (Part 4 of 5) - Creating NTRIP user access

Welcome to TopNET-V, a client program offered as an extension to Topcon’s unique and powerful Reference Station Software Suite. As a part of the TopNET+ package, the TopNET-V application is intended to control a network of reference stations and provide corrections to any rover, located within the coverage area of the network, and is used in conjunction with the TopNET-S server and TopNET-R client programs.

TopNET-V can be configured to support RTK, DGPS and Network RTK modes of operation in any combinations; the user simply decides which data stream is compatible with the mobile equipment in use and requests this through the appropriate communication link.

TopNET-V: Installation and configuration (Part 4 of 5) - Creating NTRIP user access

Creating NTRIP user access

By using NTRIP protocol, the user can add a level of authentication to the TopNET reference station network.

Direct TCP/IP connections require no authentication. However, access via direct TCP/IP can be controlled in TopNET-V as well.

By creating NTRIP user groups and NTRIP users, the user can control what organization and what users within that organization are accessing all network RTK services.

To create NTRIP user access for the reference station network, in TopNET-V, navigate to Setup > NTRIP Access.

In the Ntrip Settings dialog box, configure the following:

  1. Click the Accept Ntrip Requests checkbox.
  2. Specify the TCP/IP Port for NTRIP.
  3. Enter the Network Name.
  4. Specify the Country for the reference station network from the drop-down menu.
  5. Click the Basic radio button for Authentication.
  6. Click the Fee checkbox if usage on the network will be charged (this will be used with the Rover Accounting module).
  7. To add new NTRIP user groups and users, click the Users button.

The current list of available users and user groups will be displayed in the Ntrip Users dialog box. To create NTRIP user access for the reference station network, add a new NTRIP user group by clicking Add Group.

Configure the following when creating a new NTRIP user group:

  • The name of the NTRIP user group
  • The NTRIP Mountpoint services (DGPS, single base network RTK, network RTK) that are available to the users in a group
  • The individual NTRIP Mountpoints that will be available to users in this NTRIP user group.
  • The number of simultaneous rover connections allowed per user (typically 1).
  • (Optional) The min/max latitude and longitude from the stations in the reference station network.
    • Beyond this rectangle around the reference station network, no RTK corrections will be provided to connected rovers.

Once finished, click OK.

Repeat this process as necessary to add additional NTRIP user groups.

To add a new NTRIP user to a particular NTRIP user group, select an NTRIP user group from the list and click Add User.

To create NTRIP user access for the reference station network, please perform the following steps:

  1. Configure the following when creating a new NTRIP user:
    • NTRIP Login and Password for the user
    • Which NTRIP user group the user falls into from the drop-down menu.
    • NTRIP user credentials Expiration date
    • User Contact Information
  2. Once finished, click OK.
  3. Repeat this process as necessary to add additional NTRIP users.

Once all NTRIP user groups and their associated users have been entered accordingly, click OK on the Ntrip Users dialog box.

Then, click OK on the Ntrip Settings dialog box to exit and return to the Map View of TopNET-V.
