Pocket 3D: Import/Export - Points from a PT3 file

  • A PT3 file is Topcon's proprietary file format just for transferring point data.
  • To import a PT3, go to Data > Points > Import/Export > From PT3 file...
  • You will be asked whether you want to import all points in the file or select specific points.  Hit Yes to import all points, No to specify which points to import.
  • Find the file on your data collector or USB drive.
  • If you told Pocket3D to import all points, you should get a message stating that "xx points successfully imported".
  • If you told Pocket3D to specify which points will be imported, you'll see the screen at the right.
  • Use the triple dot box to select the PT3 file from the USB drive.  Depending on the type of data collector you are using, this may be the D:/ drive or USBHardDisk.
  • The Add to layer dropdown box lets you assign what layer the points will be imported into.
  • Once a file is selected, the lower box should show all the point data that will be imported.  By holding down on the screen in this list, a pop-up menu will appear giving you several options to select points.
  • Select All: Selects all the points in the file
  • Deselect All: Deselects all the points in the file
  • Ctrl + Select: Selects individual points by picking on them
  • Shft + Select: Selects all points between two points you pick
  • Once selected, hit the OK button to import the points.
  • If successful, you should get a message stating that "xx points successfully imported".
