MAGNET Modeler for Autodesk: Importing LandXML data

The LandXML plugin is used to import LandXML data into a MAGNET Modeler model. The plugin can be accessed via the LandXML icon.

Double-click the LandXML icon, or right-click it and select insert to add a new LandXML file. The LandXML dialog box opens, and you can select a file to import.

The following data is imported from the file:

  • Surfaces
  • Breaklines
  • Points
  • Pipe networks

In the dialog box, you can see which groups are in the file. Each surface and pipe network creates its own group. You can use the forward slash character (/) to specify subgroups. You can select a material and cut mode for each group.

Cutting has three modes: no cut, cut, and weld, and it only has an effect on surfaces.

If cut is selected, the surface cuts holes to all other surfaces that appear before it in order, from top to bottom. This means it affects surfaces in other LandXML files that appear before this file.

If weld is selected, all other surfaces are welded to this surface. If Locked is check marked for a surface, it will not be cut or welded. Only surfaces marked as Selected are brought into MAGNET Modeler.

This dialog box also has a context sensitive menu. With it, you can check or uncheck whole columns and set the same material for multiple rows. This is done by setting a value for one row, selecting multiple rows, and from the context sensitive menu, selecting Set same material or Set same cut mode.

The error button changes to red if there are errors in the LandXML file or if it consists of items that are not supported. Rows can be moved by selecting a row and pressing the up or down arrows.

If you have added a LandXML file to MAGNET Modeler, it is shown in the user interface. You can edit settings by double-clicking an item or right-clicking it and selecting settings

An item can be deleted by clicking it and pressing the delete key, or by right-clicking it and selecting remove.
