MAGNET Field: How to display depths while connected to a depth finder

Configuring a depth finder

Before following these steps, make sure to review the MAGNET Field guide for setting up a depth finder.

Go to Configure > Survey > Edit.

Click on Peripherals.

Check the box next to Depth Finder.

Click the Parameters button.

Use the drop-down menu next to Device Type and Model to match your hardware.

If you do not see your hardware listed, select Generic NMEA.

Use the drop-down menu below Connection Setting to select your connection type:

  • Select COM# if you are connected via a serial cable. (The COM port number may vary depending on your device.)
  • Select Bluetooth if you are using a Bluetooth connection.

Click on the green check mark to save.

Connecting to the rover

Finish setting up your receiver configuration.

Click Connect. Select the rover, and click Connect.

Look for the rover serial number, and select it.

Once connected to the rover, go to Survey > Topo.

Enabling depth in map view

If you do not see the map view, click on the drop-down menu at the top, and select Map.

To view the depth value, click in the blank space right above the Easting and Northing coordinates.

Select Depth as the value to display. Click the green check mark to save your changes.

Now the depth value should be visible.
