MR-2: External Radio Configurations

MR-2 With Pocket 3D

When using Pocket 3D with the MR-2 it is easiest to have an equipment profile for the MR-2 base and a separate profile for your rover. This will allow you to easily switch to your rover profile after starting the base, instead of starting the base and then editing the configuration for the rover.

RE-S1 External Radio

  • Connect the MR-2 serial cable labeled COM2 to the data collector (PN 14-008207-02LF).
  • Connect the MR-2 serial cable labeled COM1 to the serial cable going to port A of the RE-S1.
    • You will need a null modem/gender changer to connect the MR-2 cable to the standard GNSS receiver/radio cable (PN 14-008005-03).
  • Select your antenna type.
  • Connection (Pocket-3D): COM1 (Serial port).
  • Radio type: Topcon FH915 (SS).
  • Connected to: Serial Port A.
  • Baud Rate; 38400 (may vary).
  • Format: RTCM3.x (may vary)

You may wish to verify the settings of the RE-S1 with TRU before setting this up. Take note of the baud rate, flow control (RTS/CTS) and protocol.

SRL-35 External Radio

  • Connect the MR-2 serial cable labeled COM2 to the data collector (PN 14-008207-02LF).
  • Connect the MR-2 serial cable labeled COM1 to the serial cable going to port A of the SRL-35.
    • You will need a null modem/gender changer to connect the MR-2 cable to the SRL-35 programming cable (PN 1002447-01).
  • Select your antenna type.
  • Connection (Pocket-3D): COM1 (Serial port).
  • Radio type; Topcon SRL-35.
  • Connected to: Serial Port A.
  • Baud Rate; 38400 (may vary).
  • Format: RTCM3.x (may vary)

You may wish to verify the settings of the SRL-35 with TRU before setting this up. Take note of the baud rate, flow control (RTS/CTS) and protocol. SCRAMBLING IS ALWAYS ENABLED ON THE SRL-35.

MR-2 With MAGNET Field

MAGNET Field 4.2 is required, to use the MR-2

RE-S1 External Radio

  • Connect the MR-2 serial cable labeled COM1 to the data collector (PN 14-008207-02LF).
  • Connect the MR-2 serial cable labeled COM2 to the serial cable going to port A of the RE-S1.
    • You will need a null modem/gender changer to connect the MR-2 cable to the standard GNSS receiver/radio cable (PN 14-008005-03).
  • Reciever Model: MR-2
  • Choose antenna type
  • Type: External Radio.
  • Model: RE-S1
  • Receiver Port Connected to Radio: Port B, Baud: 38400 (may vary).

You may wish to verify the settings of the RE-S1 with TRU before setting this up. Take note of the baud rate, flow control (RTS/CTS) and protocol.

SRL-35 External Radio

  • Connect the MR-2 serial cable labeled COM1 to the data collector (PN 14-008207-02LF).
  • Connect the MR-2 serial cable labeled COM2 to the serial cable going to port A of the SRL-35.
    • You will need a null modem/gender changer to connect the MR-2 cable to the SRL-35 programming cable (PN 1002447-01)
  • Reciever Model: MR-2
  • Choose antenna type
  • Type: External Radio.
  • Model: SRL-35
  • Receiver Port Connected to Radio: Port B, Baud: 38400 (may vary).

You may wish to verify the settings of the SRL-35 with TRU before setting this up. Take note of the baud rate, flow control (RTS/CTS) and protocol. SCRAMBLING IS ALWAYS ENABLED ON THE SRL-35.
